7/7/08 TSWA All State
Ryan Emery (David Lipscomb) and Sam Dove (Brentwood Academy) were selected by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association to their 2008 All State Team.

Ryans made the 2A team as an outfielder and Sam made the D II team as a shortstop. CONGRATULATIONS TO BOTH!!!


2/3/08 JOHNSON SPARKLES IN DEBUT
Ben Johnson (2005, 2007) threw four shutout innings in his college debut yesterday. Ben faced 14 batters in 4 innings for Trevecca, giving up only one hit and a walk to go along with two strikeouts. He came in with the Trojans trailing 9-3 in the fourth and held Milligan scoreless as Trevecca fought back, only to lose 9-8. CONGRATULATIONS BEN!!!

8/21/07 STEM COMMITS TO WKU
Craig Stem (Brentwood Bulldogs 2008/Donelson Christian Academy) became the first MSABA player to decide on a school for the 2008-09 season. He has committed to Western Kentucky to pitch for the Hilltoppers. Craig is the second Bulldog in three years to commit to WKU, joining 2007 Freshman All-American Matt Ridings.

4/17/07 Monday April 16
Ben Johnson (18U) threw a two hitter in a 1-0 Overton win over Independence, walking one and striking out twelve.

Craig Stem (18U) and Alex Boshers (16U) combined for a 5-4 DCA victory over Goodpasture. Craig picked up the win and Alex got the save as the Wildcats gave Kentucky signee Logan Darnell his first loss of the season.

Thomas Lundborg (16U) had a grand slam and a three run homer, for 7 RBI as Brentwood Academy defeated Father Ryan 18-15, after leading 17-3.

Austin Townes (16U) had a three run double, a two run single, and a sacrifice fly for 6 RBI in an 11-1 Smyrna win over Wilson Central.


3/14/07 LEPERE TOSSES A NO-NO
Ben LePere (Brentwood Academy) made his 2007 mound debut one to remember, tossing a 11-0, five inning no hitter against Clarksville High Wednesday. Ben helped his own cause, going 2-2 at the plate with 2 RBI. Fellow Bulldog, Thomas Lundborg caught the no hitter. CONGRATULATIONS BEN!!! You too, Thomas!!!

2/20/07 2006 BULLDOGS UPDATE
Five 2006 Bulldogs have already contributed to their college teams as Freshmen. Matt Ridings (2004-06) is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA for Western Kentucky and was named Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week.

Mikie Minor (2004-06) got a save for Vanderbilt, retiring all seven batters he faced, and picking up a save as the Commodores defeated Baylor.

J.D. Dunn (2004-06) batted leadoff and played centerfield in the 2007 opener for St. Louis University.

Matt Kole (2003-06) went 2-5 with two RBI as Austin Peay swept a double header Sunday and Zach Hudson (2004-06) went 1-4 with an RBI in his first game at MTSU in a 9-1 win over Samford.


2/11/07 FORMER BULLDOGS SHINE
Matt Ridings threw five plus shutout innings in an 11-5 Western Kentucky win over Oklahoma in his college debut Sunday, Febraury 11. Matt gave up three hits and had two strikeouts for the Hilltoppers as they finished 2-1 in Wilmington, NC. Matt was named Sun Belt Conference pitcher of the week for his effort.

Meanwhile, that same day in Houston, Mikie Minor made his Vanderbilt debut, retiring all seven batters he faced, while picking up his first college save, as the Commodores defeated Baylor 7-4 to sweep three ranked teams at Minute Maid Park. CONGRATULATIONS TO BOTH!!!


6/12/06 SIX BULLDOGS SELECTED TO ALL MIDSTATE TEAM
Five Bulldogs were named to The Tennessean's 2006 All MidState first team today, and another to the second team. Mikie Minor (Forrest) made the team for the third consecutive year and was named 2006 Player of the Year. Richie Goodenow (Overton) and Matt Ridings (BGA) were selected for the second year in a row. Other first team members were Matt Kole (Ravenwood) and Zach Hudson (Overton). Jonathan Dunn (Centennial) was named to the second team. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!!!

6/7/06 TWO BULLDOGS DRAFTED BY DEVIL RAYS
Mikie Minor (13th Round) and Brandon Vernon (42nd Round) were selected by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the 2006 MLB First Year Player Draft.

5/23/06 BULLDOGS 3-0 ON DAY ONE OF STATE TOURNAMENT
The three Bulldogs in the state tournament gave up at total of seven hits, one run and ZERO earned runs today in three wins. Mikie Minor (Forrest) pitched six innings, gave up two hits (one was a bunt)and allowed four base runners in a 6-0 1-A win over Lookout Valley (Chattanooga). Matt Ridings gave up two hits and an unearned run in a Division II 3-1 win over Briarcrest Christian (Memphis). Matt Kole gave up three hits in a 2-0 win over Ooltewah (Chattanooga) and future Vanderbilt Commodore Kyler Burke.

5/22/06 2006 SIGNINGS
Richie Goodenow (Overton) and Mikie Minor (Forrest) both signed with Vanderbilt, Matt Kole (Ravenwood), Daniel Tenholder (Rossview) and Daniel Baggett (Montgomery Central) with Austin Peay, Zach Hudson (Overton) with Middle Tennessee, Matt Bowling (Page) with Lipscomb, Matt Ridings (Battle Ground Academy) with Western Kentucky, Jonathon Dunn (Centennial) with Saint Louis University, Drew Burgess (Brentwood) and Brandon Vernon with Vol State CC, Shane Bagley with Alabama Southern CC. Ten signings in the fall, two in the spring, MORE TO COME!!!

5/22/06 EVERY BULLDOG MAKES ALL DISTRICT/REGION
Fourteen Bulldogs were selected All District and one was selected All Middle Tennessee Region for Division II, which is set up by Regions.

Richie Goodenow was named player of the year for District 11-AAA, Mikie Minor was selected player of the year for District 11-A and Matt Ridings was selected player of the year for Division II, Middle Tennessee Region. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL 15 BULLDOGS!!!


1/29/06 TWO BULLDOGS ON ALL AMERICAN TEAM
Richie Goodenow (Nashville Overton) and Mikie Minor (Forrest) were among five Tennessee players selected to the 2006 Louisville Slugger Preseason High School All American 1st Team. Also selected were Rob Catapano (Knoxville Farragut), Derek Trent (Kingsport Dobyns-Bennett) and Kyler Burke (Ooltewah). CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!!!

6/9/05 FIVE BULLDOGS ON TENNESSEAN ALL-MIDSTATE
Five Bulldogs were honored on The Tennessean All-MidState baseball teams. Richie Goodenow (LHP-Overton) and Mikie Minor (LHP-Forrest) were selected on the first team. Matt Ridings (RHP-BGA) was named to the second team. Brandon Vernon (C-Overton) and Stuart Meinhart (IF-Brentwood) made the third team. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL FIVE!

6/6/05 BULLDOGS ON ALL WILLIAMSON COUNTY TEAM
Five Bulldogs were selected to the All Williamson County Team in 2005. Matt Ridings (P) BGA, Stuart Meinhart (SS) Brentwood, Matt Kole (1B) Ravenwood and Jonathan Dunn (CF) Centennial were selected to the first team.

Matt Bowling (P, LF) Page was an Honorable Mention selection. Matt was also selected to the All County track team in the Long Jump after finishing third in the state track meet.

Meinhart and Kole were repeat honorees. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!!! GO BULLDOGS!!!


5/27/05 BULLDOGS WIN TWO IN CHATTANOOGA
The Bulldogs started the 2005 season with a bang, winning both games on the opening day of the Chattanooga Cyclones Memorial Wood Bat Classic.

In the opener, Mikie Minor threw a no hitter and struck out 12 in a 5-1 win over the East Cobb Patriots. Chandler Allen went 3-4 while Haskell Fink (guest Bulldog) went 2-3 and Daniel Baggett (guest Bulldog) had a bases clearing double in a four run fifth inning rally.

In the second game, Matt Kole gave up five hits, and one earned run, while striking out nine in the 6-3 win over the Chattanooga Colonels. Fink drove in one run and J.D. Dunn drove in two in a 3 run sixth after the Colonels had tied the game in the top of the inning.


5/18/05 BAUMGARTNER SHUTS OUT GREENBRIER
Chris Baumgartner (David Lipscomb) threw a four hit shutout in a 10-0 win over Greenbrier today. Chris struck out four in the victory. By winning, the Mustangs get to play at home Friday in the Sectional (state qualifier) game against the winner of the Walker Valley-Hixson game.

5/18/05 BOWLING QUALIFIES FOR STATE TRACK MEET
Matt Bowling (Page) decided to try his luck at track after the Patriots baseball team was eliminated in Regional play. He had never participated in the Long Jump, and this was his only track meet of the year. Result: He came in first in the Sectional with a best jump of 20'8" and qualified for the state meet in Memphis next week.

5/17/05 THREESOME OUTSTANDING ON THE MOUND
Mikie Minor, Richie Goodenow and Matt Ridings all threw outstanding games in Regional tournaments Monday and Tuesday in leading their teams in post-season play.

Mikie (Forrest HS) pitched a one hitter in a 1-0 win over Mt. Pleasant in a Region 6-A first round win. Mikie struck out 22 and went all ten innings to improve his record to 10-1. Forrest plays Moore County Wednesday in the Region 6-A Championship game.

Richie (Overton HS) threw a two hitter against McGavock in an 11-1 six inning Region 6-AAA win. Richie struck out 10 while walking one and also drove in a run to improve his record to 12-0, as the Bobcats advanced to play Franklin for the 6-AAA championship.

Matt (Battle Ground Academy) struck out 10 and walked one in a 3-2 victory over Brentwood Academy in the Middle Tennessee Division II Regional. He also had a single, double and was intentionally walked in three at bats. Matt is now 6-3 for the season.


3/15/05 GOODENOW THROWS A NO-NO
Richie Goodenow (Overton HS) threw a no hitter in his first mound appearance in 2005 as the Bobcats beat McGavock 10-0 Tuesday. Richie walked one and hit a batter in his near masterpiece as Overton won their second game of the 2005 TSSAA season.

1/28/05 GOODENOW WINS OLD-TIMERS AWARD
Richie Goodenow (Overton HS) was selected as the NABF 16 year old player of the year, beating players from twenty-five other Nashville area teams. The award was presented at the Old Timers banquet last weekend. CONGRATULATIONS RICHIE!!!

1/28/05 NEWEST BULLDOG
Matt Bowling is the latest addition to the team, joining the Bulldogs after spending many years with the Franklin Thunder and the 2004 season with the Strike Zone team. Matt is a two sport star at Page High School, leading the basketball team in scoring while pitching and playing the outfield for the Patriots.

11/21/04 NEW BULLDOGS
Two new Bulldogs have been added to replace players who decided not to return from the 2004 team. Stuart Meinhart and Alex McClure join the team for the 2005 season. Stuart (18) played for the Nashville Yankees the past two summers and is a two time All District and All Region player for Brentwood High School. He also was named to the TSWA All State team in 2004. Alex (16) played for the Indiana Yankees last summer and lettered for the Kentucky state champion Christian County team as a freshman last spring. His family moved back to Clarksville where he will play for Rossville High this spring.

11/10/04 MEINHART INKS WITH TENNESSEE TECH
Stuart Meinhart (Brentwood Bulldogs, Brentwood High School) signed a National Letter of Intent this morning to play baseball at Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville. Stuart continues a long line of Bulldogs to extend their baseball careers at the collegiate level. Congratulations Stuart! GO BULLDOGS!

8/3/04 4 BULLDOGS NAMED TO WORLD SERIES TEAM
Congratulations to Jonathan Dunn (CF), Richie Goodenow (DH), Matt Kole (P), and Mikie Minor (P) on making the 2004 NABF 16U World Series All-Tournament team!

7/23/04 WORLD SERIES NO HITTER
Mikie Minor pitched a no-hitter and struck out 12 in a 5-1 win over the Bayside Yankees in the NABF 16U World Series. Good job, Mikie! Go Bulldogs!

7/16/04 BULLDOGS WIN NABF REGIONAL
The Brentwood Bulldogs won the NABF 16U Regional in Brentwood by defeating Strike Zone 2-0 and 9-1. Next stop is the NABF 16U World Series in Northville, MI, July 22-25. GOOD LUCK BULLDOGS!

7/14/04 BULLDOGS TAKE USSSA SUPER REGIONAL
The Brentwood Bulldogs completed an undefeated run through the USSSA 16U Music City Super Regional with a 4-1 win over the Indiana Yankees. The Bulldogs began play Friday with a come from behind 7-4 win over the Nashville Twins. On Saturday, they defeated the Southern Kentucky Sliders 11-3 and followed that victory with a 9-0 win over the Montgomery Thunder. Sunday morning, the Bulldogs defeated the Cleveland (TN) Riverdogs 8-3 to advance to the championship round. Matt Kole, Chris Baumgartner, Mikie Minor (2 hitter), Paul LeGuenec and Richie Goodenow (2 hitter) picked up complete game victories. Thomas Bowden and Zach Hudson hit home runs. The team completed the regular season with a 39-10 record and a 27-1 record in tournament play, winning five and finishing second once.

7/9/04 MINOR NAMED ALL STATE
Mikie Minor (Forrest HS) received another honor this week, being named by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association to the Class A All State Team. He had previously been named All District and second team All Mid-State. Congratulations Mikie! GO BULLDOGS!!!

6/20/04 MINOR NAMED ALL MID-STATE
Mikie Minor (Forrest HS) was named to the All Mid-State second team by the Tennessean today. He was one of only two sophomores selected to the team. Congratulations Mikie! Go Bulldogs!!!
